In The Greek Article, Ronald D. Peters presents a comprehensive, up to date grammar of the Greek article. Employing the principles of Systemic-Functional Linguistics, this new grammar challenges traditional models and provides a uniform, robust description of the article's function.

Many Christians have the desire to read the New Testament in its original language. Unfortunately, books that introduce the student to New Testament Greek either tend to be long-winded, or overly simplified, or both. First published in 1965, The Elements of New Testament Greek has, over the years, established itself as the standard textbook for scholars and students of the Bible. The book is now reissued with a number of small revisions and additions, and a more substantial change concerning the recitation of the alphabet. Otherwise, the aim of this perennially popular book remains as before: to present the elements (and only the elements) of new Testament Greek as simply, clearly, and completely as possible, so that the student may be spared all unnecessary toil, and may make rapid progress in understanding the lingua franca of the Hellenistic world.

This grammar sets the Greek of the New Testament in the context of Hellenistic Greek and compares and contrasts it with the classical norms. It relates to the New Testament language to its Semitic background, to Greek dialects, and to Latin and has been kept fully abreast of latest developments and manuscript discoveries. It is at no point exclusively dependent on modern editions of the Greek New Testament text but considers variant readings wherever they are significant.
