The Journal Club is a book club for people who are too busy to read books! Sign up and Mona will send you the journal article and we will meet to discuss. The chosen article discusses underprepared students. Understanding that underprepared students have poor retention, the study sought to understand who this population is and perceptions of faculty/staff about this population in an effort to better serve these students. While most students surveyed believed their professors wanted them to succeed and were interested in their learning, they also offered insight into areas where faculty could further assist their progress. Through data analysis of surveys from both populations, the article identified key areas of focus on which to build a professional development model.
