At Marian University, all students are called to uphold academic integrity in all their academic endeavors, reflecting both the institution’s commitment to intellectual and moral integrity and its foundational Franciscan values. Students are expected to exemplify honesty, honor, and respect for the truth, demonstrating their intellectual and moral integrity as outlined in the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities. By embodying these responsibilities, students contribute to a just and flourishing academic community.
As outlined in the code of student rights and responsibilities, instructors handle minor violations of academic integrity, but must notify the student of a violation in writing within one week of discovering the violation. Involvement of the Student Conduct Committee is appropriate in more complex or serious violations.
The Student Conduct Committee reviews student conduct violations in accordance with the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities. They follow established procedures to assess violations and recommends sanctions to the Dean of Students based on findings. The committee is comprised of six members:
Student representatives must be in good academic and social standing. Faculty elections occur in the spring before the academic year of service. Members serve one-year terms and may be reappointed or re-elected.
Spark is our new system used to address student concerns, intervene, and connect students with campus resources.
