Textbooks and course materials are important tools that facilitate student learning. Given the rising costs of higher education, it is important that we provide our students with high quality resources as economically as possible.
Marian University’s official textbook supplier is Follett. MUAC faculty work with Greg Lutz, the Instructional Technologist, to submit their adoptions. Each semester you will receive a form to fill out with your textbook selections for the following semester. You may select any book, in any format, that best serves the needs of your course and department requirements.
Expect to receive an email with instructions for adopting textbooks in mid-March for the Fall semester and mid- to late-September for the Spring semester. Submitting your adoptions on time helps ensure your textbooks will be available for students before classes begin.
For instructor or desk copies of textbooks, you can contact the publisher directly. The bookstore does not handle these requests, but you may see Greg Lutz if you need assistance.
Open Educational Resources (OERs) are materials which are available at no cost to students. The copyright of OER has been selected to allow use and sharing at no cost. There are OERs for just about anything you might wish to use in your course.
If you are interested in OERs, librarians can help you find appropriate materials.
Students learn which books they need through the bookstore website (marianstore.com). They may choose to purchase their books anywhere, but most do order through the bookstore site.
The MUAC campus does not currently have an on-campus bookstore. Purchasing branded material can be done through the bookstore website. Faculty/staff discounts do not apply to online purchases; however, they do apply in the bookstore pop-up store which is on campus at certain times throughout the year, and at the Indianapolis campus store. The faculty/staff discount is 50%.
