SCI 171L: Science, Environment, and Society

This guide is for the creation of an ongoing student project chronicaling native and non-native species found in northwest Indiana.

Welcome!

This guide is for students taking--or interested in taking--the course SCI 171: Science, Environment, and Society.  This open access guide is the collaborative work of the instructor David Ferrell, the instruction librarian Cassaundra Bash, and the many students enrolled in the course.  The guide houses the Indiana Species Survey Project, which looks at the various species of animals and plants found in Indiana (particularly the northwest portion where the Marian University's Ancilla College campus is) and creates a basic profile of each species, answering specific questions such as its consevation status, whether it is native or non-native, its role in the ecosystem, and more.  The Indiana Species Survey Project is intended to be an ongoing work.  Other projects may be added in the future as opportunities arise.
