Faculty Success is a comprehensive platform for documenting your teaching and research activities, but it is not always intuitive. The following suggestions can help you become more familiar with using the platform and building momentum for your "faculty success" here at Marian University.
- Activities not displaying – Always make sure to set the appropriate Portfolio Grouping for an added activity. This is very important and the cause of activities not displaying, especially when uploading one's CV to the platform. When adding an activity, click on the portfolio grouping drop-down, and select the appropriate leveled option.

- What is the appropriate selection for Service or Scholarship? What do the levels correspond to? – By default, these levels are arbitrary. Faculty should consult their department or college rubric for categorizing use of these levels according to activity. If no rubric exists, then the submitter may designate their preference for the levels according to activity. The most important point: each added activity should incorporate a portfolio grouping when available.
- Not receiving notifications from Watermark? There are a couple of things to check. First, make sure that Watermark emails aren't being routed to your spam folder. Secondly, if you use the Microsoft Outlook client or the Outlook web interface, make sure to toggle between the Focused and Other tabs at the top of the inbox. Vendor-based notifications often will be routed to the Other mailbox.
- My PDP and Self-Evaluation isn't showing up as linked to my Portfolio Report. What happened? This has been an ongoing issue experienced by some faculty. One answer is that this content has not yet been added, especially as the PDP is for the subsequent academic year. Here are instructions for adding this. If you experience issues related to this, please contact Edward Mandity (emandity@marian.edu) who will generate files for addition to these fields, so they may displayed properly in the report.
- My scheduled teaching isn't showing up in my Activities section for this semester. Do I need to add my courses manually? No, we (Michael Lockett, specifically) import faculty's scheduled teaching for each semester so you don't have to. If you experience issues, contact Michael at mlockett@marian.edu.
