MUAC shares its campus with the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ (PHJC), so not all property is “college property.”
The college occupies the first two floors of the building on the north side, Zirkle Commons, the two dormitories, and the Vet Nursing building. Faculty and staff can always access the college, the Vet Nursing building by invitation, Zirkle Commons during hours of operation, and the dormitories when their presence is required.
The Motherhouse is the largest building on campus which starts on the south side of the college on the first two floors and the top 3 floors over the college. Faculty and staff are welcome on the first and second floor of the Motherhouse while conducting business, or any time when visiting the Chapel or Emmaus Café.
Dedicated in 1923, Ancilla Domini Chapel serves as the spiritual center of the Ancilla community. Monthly all-campus masses are held in the chapel. Classes are cancelled and college offices are closed during all-campus masses, allowing all to attend. The chapel also serves as a quiet space for all who desire a moment of reflection.
The college has storage space on the fifth floor above the college. This space is accessible by the Operations Team and the Leadership team. Faculty may look for equipment if accompanied by a member of the Operations or Leadership team.
There are tunnels which connect the Motherhouse to Lindenwood and to the Chaplain’s Residence. The tunnels are strictly off limits unless invited. Despite what some students insist, there are no tunnels connecting the college to the dorms.
Lindenwood Conference Center has meeting rooms and guest rooms for conference attendees. At times the college holds events at Lindenwood. Faculty, staff, and students are welcome to check in at the Lindenwood desk to inquire about quiet space to contemplate or work.
MoonTree Studios, located across Union Road from the college, is an art gallery and studio space. MoonTree consists of three buildings. On the left with a garage door is a woodshop; accompaniment is required for access. The middle building houses the gallery and art studios. The gallery is open during business hours. Faculty, staff, and students are welcome to visit the gallery and work in the studios with permission. The building on the right, The Lodge, is a private residence and should only be entered when invited.
The PHJC grounds encompasses nearly 1,200 acres which includes maintenance buildings, ministry buildings, a cemetery, a lake, farming land, and natural areas. Faculty, staff, and students are welcome to explore the grounds.
Catherine Kasper Home, the large white building to the west of the college, serves as a temporary home for the sisters of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ while their spaces in the Motherhouse undergo renovations. Future use of the space continues to be under discussion.
Formerly the building served as a long-term healthcare facility for both sisters and the community. The healthcare facility ceased operations in 2023.
Marian University’s Ancilla College has several athletic fields on the west side of campus. The softball field can be accessed from 9B Road, the baseball and soccer fields from Upas Road. All practices and home games for those sports are played on these fields.
Galbraith Lake (also known as Lake Gilbraith and Lake Gilbert), situated on the property of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, offers a picturesque setting with a variety of aesthetic, recreational, and educational opportunities for our community. Spanning 37 acres and reaching a maximum depth of 31 feet, the no-wake lake provides a peaceful environment ideal for kayaking, fishing, and immersing oneself in nature.
