MUAC Onboarding - Student Affairs

Academic libraries have evolved over the years, some becoming more of a service which shares space with other academic resources. The library at MUAC is located in the Academic Commons, which also houses the Center for Academic and Success Engagement (CASE), tutoring services, and general study space.

The librarians offer research services to all members of the MUAC community.

Faculty may consult with librarians on their research needs, including asking the librarian to search for and provide articles. Faculty may also send their students to the librarians for assistance in narrowing or expanding a research concept, developing search terms, learning to search databases effectively, or any other informational needs. Faculty may also schedule a librarian to visit their classes to give library instruction.

The library uses LibGuides, a type of website, to construct resource guides. Librarians can build resource guides which contain links to library resources and any resources available on the internet. Resource guides can be created for a course or for specific projects.

The library lends technology, primarily laptops and calculators. Laptops may be borrowed for 24 hours or for longer periods, up to a whole semester. Laptops run on the Windows operating system, have Office 365 and the Respondus Lockdown Browser.

To better assist faculty with their library needs, the librarians are assigned to certain subject areas. The librarians can help any student or faculty member with general inquiries, but for larger projects or more specific questions, they will be guided to the subject liaison.
