MUAC Onboarding - Operations and Procedures

Inclement Weather Policy and Timeline

Extreme cold, extreme heat, blizzard conditions, heavy snows, widespread flooding or other weather or hazardous conditions could result in emergency conditions requiring cancellation of classes or operations on a reduced schedule for the safety of faculty, staff and students.

Notification of cancellation of classes or operations on a reduced schedule will be delivered by designated radio and TV stations, campus email, text messages or phone call, Marian University’s Ancilla College (MUAC) web site, Facebook page, and CampusShield.

The following individuals will discuss the weather conditions and make a determination if the MUAC campus closes or reduces the class schedule:

  • Manager of Campus Operations – Tom Nowak – Will notify outside contractors including but not limited to: SASS, Aramark, of any decision effecting operations such as a delay and/or campus closure
  • Dean of Academics – Natalie Tucker
  • Marketing and Communications (MarCom) – Calvin Hopple – Will notify radio and TV stations, update MUAC web site, MUAC Facebook page, and send Campus Shield message

If classes are canceled and the MUAC offices are closed during an academic session, essential personnel in Campus Operations, Campus Dining, and Residence Life may be required to report for work.  The safety of all employees is paramount.  Our goal is to help everyone do their jobs safely.  Employees are encouraged to use their best judgment when traveling to campus during inclement weather or hazardous conditions.  Employees will be expected to answer emails and/or take calls and participate in virtual meetings when necessary.  If work can be completed from home or remotely, please plan to do so accordingly.

If the MUAC closes due to inclement weather both hourly, non-exempt and salaried, exempt employees will be compensated.
