New Faculty Orientation

New, full-time faculty receive a New Faculty Orientation every August. This guide covers important information about this orientation so faculty feel informed and supported.

New to Canvas or Want a Refresher?

Canvas training is managed and facilitated by the Educational Technology team. If you’re new to Canvas—or just looking for a refresher—they offer sessions that will introduce you to Marian’s instance of Canvas, including an overview of the platform and how to navigate it.

If you are a full-time faculty member, more detailed course design support will be provided during New Faculty Orientation through the Center for Teaching and Learning. However, we highly recommend attending the Ed Tech Canvas sessions in advance if you’re new or newer to the platform. Their current offers include:

  • In-person - Tuesday, July 29, 10am-noon, LIB011 - reach out to Blake Ide for questions - bide@marian.edu
  • Virtual - Thursday, July 31, 1:00pm-3:00pm, via Webex - reach out to Blake Ide for questions - bide@marian.edu
  • Virtual – Friday, August 1, 10am-noon, via Webex - reach out to Blake Ide for questions - bide@marian.edu

Please sign up using this form and then connection information will be sent to you: Canvas Training

If you prefer one-on-one support, please reach out to Blake Ide (bide@marian.edu) to set up time to receive Canvas 101 training. Also, Mary Clifford (mclifford@marian.edu) is available to help with Canvas course design support to help align your Canvas course with your curriculum goals/outcomes.
