Why a Library Card Sign-Up?

by Edward Mandity on 2016-09-14T10:30:00-04:00 | 0 Comments

One initiative we're happy to promote is library card sign-up month, sponsored by the American Library Association. As September begins to usher in the fall and schools across the country start in earnest, there are fewer tools symbolizing a commitment to study more than a library card. While the Marian University ID card serves as a gateway to our collection, having a public library card greatly expands access to resources beyond our curriculum.

Students enrolled at Marian are eligible to sign-up for a card from the Indianapolis Public Library. That's why we're hosting a sign-up today in the library from 2-4 pm. Representatives from IPL's Eagle branch will be here to process cards for all those interested in expanding their resource horizons. So while students here can use Interlibrary Loan for their requests (requesting items held within the Indianapolis Public Library system), taking a trip to one of the many local branches (Eagle Branch, Pike Branch, College Avenue Branch, Central Library) will open a whole new world of discovery.

Note that for FYS students, this serves as a Passport Approved event.

So stop by and get your Indy Public Library card today!
