Over the last couple of semesters we've been searching for someone to help out with two of the most critical library services we offer. So we're happy and excited to announce that we have some new staff members here at Hackelmeier Memorial Library.
Some may already know Caitlin Balgeman, as she's been with us for a few months as our Digital Services Library Associate. Caitlin is a 2015 graduate from Valparaiso University, and is currently wrapping up her MLS degree from IUPUI. For us, she is managing the day-to-day activities associated with resource sharing and Interlibrary Loan. If you have a question about any particular ILL request, she'll be the one who knows exactly what's going on with it. Fun fact about Caitlin...she is wildly interested in Ethics and Robots, especially the intersection between the two and the implications for us in the meatspace. Robot Ethics!
Also joining us is Michelle Decker, who is our new Access Services Library Associate. Michelle will be overseeing the supervision of our front desk circulation and reference activities. Specifically, she will be assisting with the loaning of materials, answering reference questions, as well as maintaining our course reserves collection in collaboration with our faculty. Michelle has just received her MLS from Dominican University in Illinois, and possesses school library experience as well as cataloging imaging metadata experience at the Pritzker Military Museum and Library in Chicago. Interesting thing about Michelle, she loves to run marathons!
The work being done by both Michelle and Caitlin are immensely important to the library, and they are very good at what they do. Hence, don't be afraid to introduce yourselves and ask them any collection or interlibrary loan questions you have. They are eager to assist.
