Rocketbook Beacon

What are Rocketbook Beacons?

Beacons are orange triangles that you can stick to the corners of your whiteboard and then use the Rocketbook app to scan the whiteboard and then send the enhanced scan to the Destination of your choice.

Setting up the Rocketbook App?

  1. Download the Rocketbook App from your devices App Store.
  2. Sign up for a free account or sign in if you already have one.
  3. Set up one or more “Destinations” using the Destinations section under the three lines button.
    1. Destinations are locations that you can automatically send your scans to.
    2. They can be cloud storage services (like Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive), productivity tools (like Trello, Slack, todoist), or to your phone’s photo gallery or any email you designate.
    3. You can have up to seven saved destinations.
    4. PRO TIP: Set up folders within your storage cloud for each of your classes and designate a different Destination to collect that course’s notes.

How to use Rocketbook Beacons?

  1. Take your notes on a whiteboard. (Make sure to leave the corners clear of notes.)
    1. PRO TIP: Put a double hashtag around the title at the top of the board (Example: ## Rocketbook Beacons ##) and it will automatically be used as the name for the scan.
  2. Request a set of Beacons from the front desk of the library.
  3. Place the Beacons to establish the four corners of what you want to scan. Note: You do not have to capture the full whiteboard.
  4. Open the Rocketbook App.
  5. Click the camera icon to set up the scan.
  6. Switch the view from Rocketbook to Beacons (if required).
  7. Align the camera with the four Beacons and it will be captured automatically.
  8. Once you have captured it, click the Next button.
  9. Select the Destination.
  10. Erase the board and repeat
